Barbour manufacture a whole range of quality jackets, ranging from their traditional and popular wax jackets to their quilted heritage coats. Barbour clothing is an esteemed and well known brand thanks to its consistent quality. Barbour has branched out from its original country-wear roots and now stocks a variety of outdoor and fashion styles, although it never strays from its country and heritage branding. Barbour’s functional yet fashionable approach is the main source of its longevity as a brand.

Among the large collection of Barbour outerwear, quilted jackets seem to be hogging the limelight at the moment. The Barbour quilted jacket is known for its quality, practicality and style – its finely sewn diamond quilts give it good insulation for the colder months. If you were to compare a Barbour quilted jacket to a high-street imitation, you’d notice the difference in quality straight away, and not to mention the quality insulation that high-street brands rarely provide. A quality quilted jacket will have seamless stitching with absolutely no frayed edges, all stitching should look clean and neat. There will also be a thick lining inside of a quality coat, and it shouldn’t be sewn too tightly to the jacket, so you have lots of room for manoeuvre and room to make alterations should you need to. Another sign of a quality jacket is the stitching around the pockets. Pockets on Barbour jackets are an integral part of the coat, they are usually sewn into the jacket and given extra padding for warmth and insulation – on cheaper imitations the pockets will be sewn on to the outside of the coat haphazardly, usually with a piece of thin and flimsy material. Barbour’s timeless precision and quality will provide you with a coat or jacket that is the perfect investment for future warmth.

Choose a Barbour jacket or coat if you’re looking for a piece that will last you, that is functional for the cold months but also very fashionable. It may seem expensive but if you weigh up the price and how long it will last you, you will soon see it is a more economical choice than a high-street imitation that won’t last you as long, meaning you’ll have to buy more over time, and receive less quality.
