John and his wife had worked hard for many years and both were in jobs that required strength of mind and dedication.

After Drumnadrochit, they drove the 12 miles or so to Inverness, the city considered to be the capital of The Highlands, where they spent a very pleasant overnight stay in a four star hotel situated on the banks of the River Ness.

In the morning, they decided to go towards the east and after an hour or so arrived in the coastal town of Nairn and were about to travel north from there, but on looking at their map, they decided to go first of all to Fochabers which they noticed on their map but had never visited before.This turned out to be the start of the most life changing experince because on pulling into a small country road before reaching Fochabers to have some sandwiches, they became enthralled by the views and were enchanted by a very lovely looking manor house that was empty and in need of renovation.

John and Anne looked at each other and a single thought was in both of their minds, and this was that this could be the exact spot they had always envisaged when they talked about early retirement and running a small hotel.

They had both been in their careers for a sufficient number of years to retire, and fulfil their ambition to run a hotel in a peaceful location.

Anne phoned the estate agent as his notice board was in front of the property to enquire about the asking price.

After a long talk they were of the opinion that their savings, their retirement lump sum of money and the sale of their own mortgage free home would buy this property and pay for the cost of turning it into a small boutique hotel.

Their only worry was that it was off the beaten track and it would perhaps be a problem to make it known to the public who would like to stay there.
